There is David Turner himself sitting on his own front porch.
See the chicken pen up there in the left. Looks like that is quite a bit of grass and weeds there for a fire hazard.
Weren't those old houses wonderful?

There's the house that went with the porch!!
This is exciting. Like a mystery unraveling.
The house is older and smaller than I thought it would be and I did not expect a neighboring house so close. Although if they had resided at both 309 and 311 that would indicate right next door.
Ed Rand was a sheriff in Baker City and moved to Portland to become a U.S. Marshall.
Can anyone identify the trees? Almost look like peach trees. Prunes (plums) were a common backyard fruit tree but the leaves look too big.

Was there indoor plumbing in 1912 or outhouses?

Does anyone know where this house is? And if it is still there?

Read yesterday's photo Andy.

Is this house gone now?
Ellen Dittebrandt on 27th March 2014 @ 10:36am
Can this be the location of the Turner home
Ellen Dittebrandt on 27th March 2014 @ 10:47am
Sorry, not yesterday's photo. Tuesday's photo. Arthur has already done some scouting around for location.

They were probably peach trees. When my dad bought the property to build a home at the east end of Prospect it was a peach orchard. We had one tree left when I was young.

They look like peach trees to me too, though the neighborhood today is full of remnants of the prune orchards that were on the hillside. I have several nice ones in my yard. These houses are gone, but there are many cottages from that era on the hillside. To answer l.e., my 1919 cottage had an outhouse which hung around until the 1980s.

What is the item above the upstairs window?
