The Mt. Hood Lodge was about five miles south of Parkdale, and operated until 1926. The windmill operated to pump water up to a holding tank on the roof.
The hotel was owned by Homer Rogers, who in 1919 also bought the Cloud Cap Inn. Completion of the Columbia Gorge Highway and the Mt. Hood Loop Highway meant serious trouble for local destination resorts, as you could now see Mt. Hood on a day trip from Portland. The Mt. Hood Lodge was closed and burned in the 1930's.
