Santa took a brief break for a photo at the Day's house in Hood River in 1935. He seems a little distracted, possibly because he was expecting cookies and milk.
Happy Holidays from Historic Hood River.

I had a doll like that. She came with a bundle of new clothes that my mom had somehow sewn without me knowing about it.

Looks like some of the Christmases I remember as a child in the 40's. Always the doll.
Merry Christmas to each of you.

The lowest ornament looks like the ones we made in grade school from beads and soda straws.

Suspicious looking Santa. Dare I write it. Perhaps a She-Santa rather than a He-Santa.
Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Merry Christmas everyone. Makes me think of Christmas at my Grandma Susie's. I wish I had her carrot cake recipe.

While I don't have Jeffrey's Grandmother's carrot cake recipe, we did post some holiday recipes from the era a couple of years ago:

Try them out!

I always got the dolls, but only the clothes they were wearing. My Mom did not sew, so I had a lot of dolls, but the clothes were for a specific doll. So, had a big doll bed full of "unclothed" dolls. LOL

Interesting you say that LMH. My first thought was that Santa might be Io Day.
The girl, which is probably the Day's youngest daughter, looks like she has been ill. Maybe just recovering and still not feeling so great?

Santa is IO Day. She is my Grandmother. She played Santa many times. Her husband Alva Day Built the house and lived there at 420 June street. The way that house was built it will last forever. Years after they both died the kids looked for his white lighting and couldn't find it. The new owner started to pave the basement floor and found some boards under dirt under the stairs. The white lightning was under the boards. Sorry he was scared of it and threw it away. If you need more info use the email. Better hurry I'm 79 years and the son of Carroll who passed away about 1990. densan.onesissy@gmail.com. The web site said this E mail was no good but it is the right one.

What a treasure to have a descendant of Alva and Io to find this site and make comments.
Thanks Dennis. Alva has become a favorite of many of us.

Mrs. Day was surely a good sport.
