This is the time of year many of you start to think about the irrigation ditches which make much of the agriculture in our valley possible. This Ella May Davidson image shows one of this ditches winding its way through the forest. Can anyone suggest where this may be?

ah yes, irrigation ditches....brings back vivid memories of cleaning out sprinkler heads with a wire from the silt and using the silt from the box to fill driveway potholes out on our Belmont place....I think we were at the north end of the system...do not remember any time running out of water. also remember having some "fun" with a steer or two as I tried to move the sprinkler line in "their" territory. And I don't remember wondering where the water we didn't use went nor how we paid for it......

Arlen, people often don’t wonder about those questions until one day, someone tells you, you can no longer have irrigation water.
Hood River, geographically, is an amazing layout for irrigation.

The east fork canal possibly up by Toll Bridge Park maybe? Its the only one I know of that size.

The slight curve in the ditch looks like the Toll Bridge Park area.
