This Alta Walter image is titled "Andy and Maxwell." "Andy" would be her younger brother, John Andrew "Andy" Walter (b. 1901), and "Maxwell" would be the make of the automobile. I think the Maxwell a 1918 or 1919. The hood vents were changed in 1920.

Pride of ownership! And, back in the day when you could sit on the hood of a car and not leave the large dent behind!

On the Find a Grave page there is a photo of Andy sitting on a fancy riding lawn mower. Seems fitting.

Would the back window have been the vertical slits or oval or square? Was there glass sewn into those openings? That would be very heavy! Certainly not plastic.

Roger, They used isinglass as the side and rear windows and sometimes a glass pane for the rear window. The owner had to be very careful not to break the rear glass window pane once the top was lowered.
