Alta Walter took a drive on the Mt. Hood Loop Highway shortly after it opened. This is her view of Government Camp. Here's a slightly earlier view of the spot.

Immediately I got this feeling of deja vu, that I have seen this photo before, or something similar from this same perspective but I can't find it. Maybe one of the regulars on here will remember this, or maybe it's just my imagination gone wild with false memories.

The photo reminded me of this one.

So....this photo is old, but that building is even older. Any idea what it is?

Thanks LE, I added a link to the notes so folks can see the earlier view of the spot. Not sure what was going on at the spot in those days, but it seems like a good spot for roadside/trailside services.

I’m pretty sure the Place we call Govt Camp is a higher elevation… this spot looks too far south from the Mt- maybe some where along the old Barlow rd?

Midsummer drive in shirt sleeves but a good amount of snow still
on the mountain. How would that compare to summer now?

Great photo! I think that might be part of the Government Camp Hotel, the first hotel built at Government Camp (in 1899). If so, the main hotel would be off to the left, just outside the frame.
