I believe this image from the E.O. Blanchar family folder shows a demonstration of a dentist's drill from the museum collection. The photo is from 1958. Our museum database shows a "foot pedal drill used by Dr. Pineo in 1900." You can see Dr. Pineo in his office in this great image.

Dr. Carey h. Jenkins used one like that on me when I was in junior high. He also used a hammer and chisel to break my impacted wisdom teeth out of my jaw my mother not to whimper orgroanbecause that might hurt dr. Jenkins's feelings.
