This is Claire Leaming Bartmess, son of S.E. and Elda Bartmess. He was born in 1888 and sadly died in 1893. His death was reported in the last Hood River Glacier issue of 1893, but with no further detail. That issue of the newspaper is particularly well-scanned, so you can take a look to see what was going on in the world that day.
This cabinet card was badly faded, but I was able to bring out enough interesting detail to make it worth sharing.

Good point LE, it hadn't occurred to me Sam Bartmess, as the town undertaker, would have had to attend to his own son. How sad.

Clair was my grandfathers brother and he died after falling down some stairs in there home on Xmas eve. A hearbreak.
