Unfortunately the information on this real photo postcard is thin, but it's a great image to start the new school year. Check out the chalk drawing of a steamer cruising up the Columbia, and look at that great old desk.
I can make out a couple of words on the chalkboard, like "Columbus", "New England", "government" and "colonies." I wonder if they had any discussion of the people who inhabited the area just a few decades before?

Is that two sisters with the same style dress? And the boy in the back left has the tell-tell sign of wearing a hat and working outside. Wonder what he did at his young age.
