In July 1923 the Plogs drove the still under construction Mt. Hood Loop Highway. Despite ODOT's efforts over the years to keep the river and the rocks off the road, this spot doesn't look that different today than it did 99 years ago. While much of the loop highway has been moved from its original alignment, this section persists in the same spot. You can learn all about the little-known remnants of the original alignment here.

As I was looking at this photo, I was thinking about the 2006 Flood which wiped out a portion of the Loop Hwy. I remember the news reports saying they might not be able to rebuild . But they did.
