This view of Queen Marie of Romania's 1926 visit to Maryhill is from the Olga Plog's album. I'm amazed she got so close to the action! Mayor Baker would be George Baker, Portland mayor for many years. While I was checking out his bio I looked at Queen Marie's bio. I recommend checking out both of those biographies if you have a few minutes. Queen Marie's life was full of royal intrigue. I'm surprised it hasn't been made into a BBC period drama. And George Baker was famous for posing with the KKK, worth a read.

According to this article the castle had no windows, but in this photo it looks like the reflection of glass.
