My Great Grandfather's name was Joseph Brunner and he was a dyer/wool grader at the Oregon City Woolen Mills. He perfected a certain green dye. The joke was that he dyed all day and came home alive everyday. His son Lester Brunner also worked at the woolen mill.

Yes, Jacobs was a Pendleton competitor. Oregon City Woolen Mills was founded by the Jacobs Brothers.

another great lantern slide.....fond memories of the Paris Fair and the transactions being sent up a wire device to the central cashier upstairs and your change/receipt coming back down the same way.

I believe the “tubes” are still there in the existing store. They were still used in later years when I shopped there. I had friends that worked upstairs in the “change making” dept. & also as book keepers.
