This was the scene in the packing house at A.I. Mason's Liberty Home Orchard in Pine Grove. Every apple is being carefully wrapped in paper and places in a wood crate for shipment to major markets. Modern packing houses are a different scale. with considerably more technology.
Note the shop dog curled up on the floor.
Oh my aching back.
Notice the man curled up by the wood stove.

L.E. beat me to it - my favorite part after the shop dog is the guy with his leg kicked up, bowler hat on, "supervising" by the stove.

I count 7 men and 3 women. Equal opportunity job.

On closer look, it doesn't look like the guy in the back is in a very comfortable position. I think he is using one foot to kick open the door to the wood stove to add more fuel.

Roger and my Mother spent a LOT of hours on her feet packing fruit in HR...her efforts if I remember correctly got us among other things a new washing machine....

Interesting that the men are wearing ties. My Grandfather always wore a tie no matter what.

Initially, I was thinking there were more women in this picture, but then I had to take a closer look as some are not obvious. I see that some of the men are wearing neckties which seems unusual for this type of work by today's standards. Maybe management had to pitch in and pack apples when it was busy.

the neck tie is close to the dumbest invention "man" has ever made....absolutely no functional justification.....
