This image of the Laraway Jewelry store on Oak Street was under-exposed, but I was able to rescue it with a little Photoshop work.
Laraway's store is the narrow sliver between the "Stationery" sign and what might be a news box on the curb. There are several small signs which look like bumper stickers with the mottos "We Want to See YOU/W.F. Laraway/Hood River", "Don't Forget to Meet Me at W.F. Laraway/ Hood River", and "We Lead, Others Follow/ W.F. Laraway/ Hood River". Two others are not fully visible.
The stationery store has a display of "Better Fruit" magazine in the window. We know several Laraway images were published in the magazine. The shop to the left sells "Twentieth Century Sanitary System/ The Guaranty of Pure Soda Water" with the cross in a circle.
The Smith Building to the right of the stationery houses Smith Bros. on the first floor, and of course our old friend Dr. Pineo, dentist, on the second floor.
Laraway has signed the negative on the lower right. This is a good example of a case where the digital copy doesn't tell the full story. Looking at the negative with a magnifier you can see the letters are no more than 1/8" high, black ink painted onto the glass in mirror image to produce what you see here. I couldn't begin to do much more than a smudge at that scale.

I would have had no idea this was HR. Nothing looks familiar except the slope of the ground.

The Smith Building to the right is still there, but they have removed the bay windows so it's not as recognizable.

Arthur, this looks like all one building, with the same brickwork and decorations along the top. Was the single story section replaced or a second story added?

Scott, you can read about the history of the building here: http://historichoodriver.com/index.php?showimage=2734
