I like this backlit Laraway image of a visit to the coast. The degradation of the negative almost adds to the scene, framing the central image.
Unfortunately it looks like someone tried to remove some dirt from the emulsion with a solvent. Photographic emulsions are extremely delicate, especially on glass. In this case it removed the emulsion down to the glass, leaving a clear streak which prints as black.

I wonder if they are all from one group, such as a church group.
My mother in law, who spent a lot of time at the beach would be very nervous about the waves pulling someone out.
