This stereo card view of Condit Dam has lots of interesting detail. It looks like it was taken shortly after the dam's 1913 construction. Condit Dam was from a very active era of hydroelectric power projects in the area. There were at least three Powerdale projects on the lower Hood River, as well as hydro power at Tucker Bridge, Dee Mill, and White River south of the Dalles.
This dam was removed starting in 2011.

Thanks for the link to the dam removal effort.
Our family spent many pleasant hours relaxing at a cabin on Northwestern Lake.

Interesting to see the new orchards on the hillside.
With the completion of Condit, there were plans for dam projects on the Lewis and Klickitat Rivers. I think an electric railway was part of the plan.

I've always wondered if there is some way to restore the Northwestern Lake park/picnicing / swimming area. Many, many family local traditions went down the river with the removal of that dam.

Removing a dam I can understand, spending big money to remove all trace as at the Hood river dam is not.
