This Gifford and Prentiss image of Multnomah Falls hearkens back to a day when you could take the train to the falls, as evidenced by the uniform of the man in the middle. Congestion at this #1 tourist attraction in Oregon has prompted ODOT and the USFS to institute a permit entry system to limit the number of visitors parking at the falls. While we don't have the option of visiting by train anymore, we can now use the Columbia Gorge Express bus service to get to the falls without worrying about parking lot congestion.
We take the bus often, and it's always a pleasure. Would love to still have passenger rail on our side, but Bingen is close enough, I guess.

Are these people important dignitaries?

It appears to me that the group on the right may includes a chauffer wearing a hat....not sure how that fits with a train group. Some of my train friends have hopes of once again having train service to Multnomah Falls...my read is "good luck" with getting a passing siding built in our Gorge......
