I always enjoy the equestrian skills displayed at the July 4th parades. This particular year the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation brought in a troupe of skilled equestrians to join the parade. Dick Radliff captured this image at the staging area across May Street from the High School (now Hood River Middle School).
Hopefully we can date this by the car.

Well, that horse does not look happy with the situation. I've seen that look right before the horse tried to throw me off.

I wish we had a name.
I agree Marilyn. The photographer did a good job of capturing the expression in the horses’s eye plus the laid back ears. He is thinking about whether he wants to explode or not.

The second car, behind the horse's haunches, is that a Studebaker?

A car expert tells me the car on the left is a 1949 Buick Super or Roadmaster and the tags are from 1949. He agrees with Nel the middle car is a Studebaker.

The car on the left looks like my grandma and grandpa’s Buick.

I just was reading about a trick rider named Montie Montana. I know his wife who he was married to at the time of his death. Montie was famous for roping President Eisenhower. Trick riders are a tough breed!

tHIS HAS TO BE ONE OF MHY FAVORITE PICTURES, PLUS THE DISAPPEARING PICTURE FROM DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY WITH THE HORSE ON A FLAT BED WAGON, WHEREEVER IT DISAPPEARED TO.

The saddle resembles a McClellan Saddle.

nels, the horse on the flat bed wagon was a link in yesterday's post. It was the Mullen and Luckey Blacksmith float from the same parade.

A view from another angle confirms the auto is a Buick Roadmaster.

Enough about the horse and the cars. Who is the man standing on the horse?
