Thinking cool thoughts. Here's Koberg Beach during a hard winter freeze. I suspect it was the winter of 1929. You can see the parking area and the changing rooms to the right. The swim area was in that small cove behind the rock.

Great view of the area! It really helps provide context to the features that survived I-84. I wonder if the transmission tower is the same structure still standing today?

For Portland, the low for 1929 was -9º January 29. It must have been a long cold spell, because Pendleton reached -28 in February 1929.
