It's always fun to find another Carleton Watkins image in our collection, even if it's just a beat up old stereo card. I suspect this is from his 1883 visit to the area, though it could be from his 1867 trip. You can see many more of his stereo views of the area here.

I believe this is the area that later was referred to as the "Big Eddy" area.
