We used to notice the hills on the highways because that is where the cars would struggle and overheat. Now we barely notice the mountain passes.
Booth Hill is on the east side of Highway 35 south of Willow Flats Road. If I am correct, this view is looking north towards Mt. Adams from where the road crests north of Sawtooth Roadhouse and the mill. I believe the road has been moved quite a bit in this area to make curves suitable for faster travel speeds.
Wow, that is quite a view. You can even see Little Mt Adams, the conical shape on the east slope of the big mountain.
Amazing the amount of hard labor that went into clearing the ground for orchards and the investment in fruit trees.

Looks more like the Old Dalles Drive just below Panorama Lodge.

I think the presence of railings makes this a "highway."

Well, this is my third attempt to comment. I must have a computer issue.
Anyway, great view. It looks to me like it's more in the area of central vale road.
I actually miss driving those curves.

Who would guess that the third largest river in the U.S. is about 10? miles north of this viewpoint.

Dumb question maybe, but the trees look in full bloom but it otherwise looks like snow. Possibly overexposure? or os it truly a spring shot?

Definitely a middle valley shot. I think it is not too far up the hill from Packer's. Hard to tell, as can't find one thing that looks like something today to use as a marker. Definitely in full bloom....

Arthur, can you do a google photo from today's view?
L.E. on 18th February 2020 @ 1:27pm
LE, I added a Google Streetview. I can't get to the exact point, but examining the distant ridge lines this streetview is on the correct line east/west, a little too high, and a little south of the spot in the postcard. I think the intersection of Booth Hill Road/SR35 or Central Vale Road/SR35 is a little closer, but I can't find a spot without roadside trees.
I wonder if the actual spot is along what we now call Booth Hill Road.

Any idea of when the photo was taken? Do you know anything about C.S. Reeves?
cg on 18th February 2020 @ 7:30pm
After asking about C.S. Reeves I see that he took the photo of Odell that was posted here a couple of days ago and it appears he was taking pictures throughout the Northwest in the 30's and 40's. There is mention of a studio in St. Helens.
