This image is labeled "Gertrude R. Stanton, 1914, Pine Grove District" on the reverse. I see a census records for a Gertrude R. Stanton who was born in 1895, and married Guy Linville in Hood River in 1915. The pages of The Hood River Glacier tell us Miss Stanton was a 1914 graduate of Hood River High School. She got a job teaching in Condon that fall, where she met "a prominent y0oung rancher" whom she married. We also have a few images of the "Stanton Ranch" in Pine Grove from the same period.
Can anyone fill us in on Ms. Stanton or her family?
Gertrude Ruth Stanton was born in Holdenville, Indian Territory on 22 April 1895 to George Stanton and Lenora Stamper. She with her family removed from Indian Territory to Portland prior to coming to Hood River after 1910. Yes, she did marry Guy Hanford Linville in 1916. It appears none of this particular Stanton family remained in Hood River very long, before ending up again in the Portland area.
Gertrude would have 4 children, Victor, Guy, Eleanor and Lyle before she and Linville divorced in 1934. She was living in Portland at the time of her death

I like this photo. Well composed, and it looks like she's got her bedroll and drinking cup to go camping. Someone likes planting flowers around the house and a young apple tree in the yard and another one in the front yard.. Did they have lawnmowers in the day or do they bring in the goats or horses? Roses blooming so I'd guess June at least. Need to move either the apple tree or the fir tree growing a few feet away. Maybe one of you can guess the month by the shade of the roof overhang.

I love the tin cup.
I can't find any family connection to E Daniel Stanton who was a farmer on Miller Rd. and a member of the GAR.

Divorce was uncommon, especially at 39 years old... wonder what led them to it. Hope she wasn't in a bad situation.

(39 yrs old + 4 kids + single) x 1934 = not a good formula.
