Here's a nice page from Arline Moore's small photo album. I haven't seen Johnnie Gray in other photos, but it looks like he played on the Hood River team with Max Moore.
I couldn't find any reference to Mr. Gray in the newspaper archives, but I did find this charming article from 1911 reminiscing about the championship game of July 4, 1878 played between Hood River and the Dalles.

Great article of early baseball. Especially during this time of playoffs, with no players having an excuse to be gone for harvest.
There is a John W. and George E. Gray listed in the 1910 census. John is 22 years old, listed as a partner with George, age 30. They are tailors and live on either Front or State Street.

Max Moore and John Gray are not listed as graduates on Hood River High School in The Mascot. The 1940 census shows Max Moore went to school through 8th grade. John Gray likely attended but did not graduate.
