Glad they did not blast away this lower lock entrance as they did the Condit dam and the Hood River dam. I can understand breaching the last two but spending so much time and money to remove all trace of their history I do not.

This gives a good look at how narrow that canal was. Barges could not get through that this day and age........

Although the canal was 65' wide the locks were only 45'. Wonder why when the locks and entire canal at the cascades were to be 90'. Also wonder how wide a modern barge is.
