I'm not quite sure what they're making. The booklet is opened to a page labeled "Bracelet Making with Plastic Looping" but it looks like they are decorating small paper cones. One of the girls has thoughtfully worn clothes monogrammed Eileen, and the Weber Bros. calendar appears to be from 1953.
I like the "Man's Size" Kleenex box on the desk. I guess in the 1950s girls' sneezes were supposed to be more dainty so they wouldn't need as big a sheet of paper.
The girl second from the left is Alice Absteen. She lived swith her parents "Sim" and Juliette down on Ruthton point until they blasted it all away for I-84. At that time they moved to the two story house at the bottom of Rand Road, just behind Little Bit Ranch Supply.
I notice a larger cone type thing on the desk. I wonder if they were not involved in making replicas of that. For what purpose I haven't a clue. I thought from the book on the table they might be making napkin rings, which were still in use in the 1950's, but appears not to be.
From the construction of the floral arrangement or lack of on the desk, appears someone should be teaching a flower arrangement class.

Oh Charlotte, I bought that old house (1905 Bobby Rand constructed) in 1988, from Frank Wimmers, who had bought it from Sim Absteen. Remember Murray's Auto Wrecking yard, it was near what is now Safeway's parking lot. Well Frank had bought up some of the residences near the wrecking yard, so the owner wouldn't complain about his 'eyesore', I mean wrecking yard.....

It looks like an assembly line, starting with the girl on the right cutting out the shape. Next girl is using rubber cement and gluing them together. Each girl thereafter is painting something on the outside. Now by looking at the one on the table, my guess is a tipi. But why? Your "Man's Size" Kleenex are being used under each project to protect the table. Not that it will do much good with the X-Acto knife!

Looks like they are making small tepees with decorations on them.
