I am going to let those that were actually in the class identify, though I know over half of them.
I do have a question though....Were your desks or chairs actually that close together in class? What if you were left handed. How would you manage to write. I would have a hard time being that cramped up to someone to get anything done...Or was it more just a lecture class.............

I think the kid to the left of Lynn McLain with the glasses and white buck shoes is Bill Seaton.
Bill Seaton on 9th January 2018 @ 9:06am
Bill, I wondered how you would respond to that. My funny for the day. This has been lots of fun. Thanks!
Mary Bartmess Kramer on 9th January 2018 @ 9:30am
In back was Murl then Ed Babikoff, Jack, and Joe Parker. To the left of Camelia was Harry Willett. Elmer Smith was behind Harry. Yes, Bill, that is you on the left.

Counting yesterday's picture I can count at least 10 class members that are no longer with us.

I find it thoughtful that, these class photos are fairly recent, in the time of Hood River history, and yet they have become history.
Some of the people have already passed and some have been forgotten and some of the history can still be based on memories and recollections.
L.E. on 9th January 2018 @ 10:57am
yes, we tend to forget that history is yesterday......one of the many interesting aspects of this photo are the various expressions on the faces....Bill you are VERY serious or glum,,,,Ronnie = someone just told a joke.......Jane and Sharon = nice smiles.....who took this photo and why???
Arlen Sheldrake on 9th January 2018 @ 2:57pm
As I recall, Mary Hawkes took the photo, but I don't remember why.

Maybe she was trying to see who looked guilty at putting the dead mouse in her drawer! Or was that Chemistry Buzz?
susie irwin on 9th January 2018 @ 4:18pm
That was chemistry Susie.
Buzz on 9th January 2018 @ 4:47pm
In both photos, there are more students in the pictures than there are seats, with those standing/sitting against the back wall. Why?
kmb on 9th January 2018 @ 5:07pm
Our regular classroom was next door and was much larger. This room was the Science Demonstration Room.
Bill Seaton on 9th January 2018 @ 5:22pm
When I attended school, there were a few desks for the left handed student.

Looking at these pics with my wife. She was class of '57 at Sacred Heart in Salem, and went to OCE with 2 gals from Hood River, who were from the class of '56. They were Anne Flesher and Nancy Butterfield. Any of you Hood River folks remember them?
Jerry Larsen on 11th January 2018 @ 4:25pm
Anne Flesher lived across the street from my family. My brother Dale, who still lives in the old home place, is in contact with Anne and the class o '56 has had several reunions.
