This timber portal on tunnel 1.5 was replaced with the present concrete portal in 1923. The tunnel replaced the original track around the point.

This could not have been a safe job.
I recognize one of the men up on top of the tunnel from the previous camp photo.

Those timbers would have been heavy to maneuver around.
