Kent Shoemaker was born and raised in Hood River
He was in WW and involved in the American Legion.
He was the clirk in the Hood River County Court.
He was very much against the Japanese returning to their homes and farms in Hood River. He even went so far as to publish posters stating such.

Kent was certainly a part of HR's darkest period. Father John L. was not proud of the part he played as a Deputy Sheriff in forcing the removal of Japanese from their HR valley homes.

Not sure why my name keeps popping up under each photo after I made my first comment this morning. Anyhow, my mom-in- law, Marjory Brower West use to teach swimming lessons at Koberg. She told me there was a big "crib" floating in the water, so beginning swimmers wouldn't float down the river, where she gave lessons.
