Does anyone know if he was able to successfully produce and market this machine?

With no outriggers I would certainly be afraid it would topple when swung to the side.

I know there were quite a few of them in use in the valley. I don't know whether it was his design that was used or not. One of my uncle's had one that he used when pruning, thinning and even picking cherries. Yes, children liked to take rides on them up and down.....Never heard of any toppling over, but not saying they didn't.

I found a number of patents by Ormand Hukari with a simple Google patents search -- https://patents.google.com/?q=ormand+hukari -- and plan to look a bit deeper as soon as I can. There have been interesting Hood River inventors over the decades, looking at the patent archives.
