Can anyone place this Anne Lang view of Mt. Hood? At first I thought the notation to the lower left would be a clue, but I think it is a signature: AM Lang.
I haven't seen any other glass negatives from Anne Lang with a signature. The notations on negatives are frequently hard to read because they were usually written onto the emulsion in reverse so they would print correctly. That's why you see so many period postcards with letters backwards in the description. Try to write a lowercase "g" backwards and you'll see why her signature looks funny.
History buffs may enjoy the Sense of Place lecture I will be giving Wednesday, November 4th at the Columbia Center for the Arts. It's part detective story/ part biography and had its start in the archives of our very own History Museum. It's not primarily photo based like my last two Sense of Place lectures, but I think most HHR followers will find the subject matter engaging.

I think that sounds right. I was looking for a better pic from here, the closest one I have is from Eden Park, but you can clearly see Barrett Spur in the old photo so that's what I'm thinking.

Here is one from the Vista Ridge trail near it's intersection w/ the Timberline. Barrett Spur clearly visible. If the old photo is in fact near the Ladd Crossing, the profile of the mountain in the old photo kind of bothers me though. Could it have changed so much in a relatively "short" amount of time? https://goo.gl/photos/e3cHqert1uDmpWPY8

Nice work by OrMtMaid to identify the area, and to Jeremiah for linking us to a couple of nice photos.
The mystery for me is why Anne Lang would photograph this view of Mt. Hood? Maybe it looked better in person than on a photographic plate.
Nice work by everyone, including you, Arthur.

I think that this was taken around the Compass Ck area. Between Elliot Branch and Coe Branch. Ladd ck. is west of Coe Branch, this old photo is looking up from the east of the Coe glacier. That is probably Barrett Spur on the far right. We most likely are looking up one of the many Compass Ck. drainages.

I enjoy these photos where someone is trying to solve "where am I?"
OrMtMaid was quick with her reply.
I looked through many of Tom Kloster's photos, and Oregon Hikers photos, but couldn't find one that quite matched this view.
For someone that is unfamiliar with hiking in the Mt Hood area, this is an interesting site.
You pick the trail and the little cameras show a view from that spot along the trail.
