Strawberries were a much more important crop than apples or pears in the early days. Many people think, incorrectly, that the strawberries were much bigger back then. In reality, the horses were much smaller. This child dropped by the children's entrance to the Davidson Fruit Company with his miniature team to pick up strawberries for lunch, circa 1908.
