Here's another fine view of the Jaymar mill operation in the 1940s. This is a Howard Jones photo.

Where were/are Jay Mar Park and Jay Mar Road located?

The property starts at Cascade just west of the Subway sandwich shop and continues to the river. It includes the skate park and the city land with the disc golf course.

Are there any historical evidences today of this operation. Like pilings, docks, etc. This mill must have sat slightly west of the current day 'hook' area of the port.

There are pilings near the tip of the hook. I'm sure Kenn or Scott can fill us in on other remains from this operation.

Would this barge be headed to Portland for transloading to a ocean going vessel or ?

I believe my great uncle Bob Vaughan ran a dredge in this same area as well as near the interstate bridge.

The lumber looks like it is thicker than 2x stock, maybe 4x. Perhaps Arthur could take a look at the original photo and give us a better idea of what the dimensions were.

Arthur, thx for the shout. I've placed current pix of the visual remnants on Google Earth. Yup, there's lots to see! Thx so much Arthur for these Jaymar pix, as I've been waiting for years to see some of the mill "in the works"...and this one and some of the previous are a historical joy for me. Much appreciated!
