In the Nov. 3, 1905 HR Glacier:
HOOD RIVER WILL HAVE A NEW HOSPITAL
The Cottage Hospital association has bought the large residence erected by S.H. Cox some time ago and it is the intention to transform it into a modern up to date hospital.......
In 1924 it was declared structurally unsafe and closed by the Fire Marshall.
But, in typical HR fashion, the fund raising began and they built a bigger and better hospital in 1931.

I remember this being there when I was a child. Can't remember exactly what it was though.

I assume S A Cox was a local business man with a large family to have built such a big house, looking forward to some info from Charlotte.

Did this have anything to do with the cCottage Farm later?

I'm not aware of any link between the Cottage Hospital and Alma Howe's Cottage Farm.

My mother in-law, Maryann Scearce was born here in 1922.

I correct my prior post. Maryann Scearce-Hanners was born at the Cottage Hospital February 6, 1924 not 1922 as before stated.
