I do remember when that all burned. I know there was a massive re-foresting of that area. Red Hill is a place that the Crag Rats used to go to measure snow for water content.

Apparently no salvage of burned timber in the 1950's.

There are probably a lot of things we will never understand about forest fires.
A destructive cleanser??

Uhmmmm Arthur, I really don't mind looking at HHR photos more than once. I always learn something new.
Especially when Tom Kloster adds information.

A welcome repeat for me, Arthur! I've dated that burn to sometime before the early 1930s, based on USFS lookout panoramas taken 1931-34. The Cooper Spur panoramas clearly show a burn extending from Red Hill east to Perry Lake (and beyond). Thanks for (re)posting!

I've been wondering when I would repeat a photo accidentally. Once in 4 1/2 years isn't so bad! Unfortunately my content management system doesn't note duplicates, so I have to depend on my memory.
