This stately home was the Sam Bartmess family home. The home is now gone, though the mortuary is still there (now Columbia River Insurance, 6th and State). The home was a nice complement to the E.L. Smith home, which still stands over the opposite corner. You can see a little corner of the Asbury Methodist Church.

If I recall correctly the mortuary building in my youth housed the Nazarene Church.
