Wallace Young was the son of Baynard and Ida May (Post) Young. He was born in Prineville in 1887. He may have well spent time in Idaho with his wife, Bertha (Lafferty) but was back in Hood River by the time of his death in 1943. He was the father of Joe Young.

I believe his grandson Dale still lives in Hood River; and all his grandchildren were raised here.

Does anyone know: Are those chaps buffalo or bear?

I think they are sheep.
It seems like we saw that same horse brand in a previous photo. I wonder if it is a military brand.

Have not seen a gun worn that far forward,

It was fairly common for caballeros to be photographed with their guns towards the front of the bodies and not to the side. This might just have been a way to show off their armament.

Great photo; thank you!
Wallace Young's birthdate was 8 Sept. 1887. His father's first name was Bayard. I am a great-great-niece of Bertha Lafferty (her brother Lyss was my great-grandfather). I spoke by phone with Dale in 2012 and he was in Hood River then; haven't talked to him since. Here is my Ancestry.com page on Wallace Young, with some photos.

Great picture, thank you for posting this picture of Wally Young. This is my husband Dale's grandfather. Wally and Bertha had a dairy farm in Odell on Odell creek off of wyEast road I believe. We do not have this photo, so it was nice to see it.
