This Cross & Dimmitt postcard shows the view from Vista House when the paint was still wet (or maybe before it was built). Check out how much activity there is down at Bridal Veil. And yes, there is a train there for Arlen.

Amazing how much slough and wet lands there was down there before 84 was constructed.
You can see Beacon Rock way up the river.
Yes, there is Arlen's little toot down there chugging along.....

I see no train at Bridal Veil but there is one on the track at Latourell, and a nice view of the town.

Latourelle had a train station at OWRR&N MP 2264 from Chicago, MP 24 from Portland on the present timetables.. Pictures exist of river boats getting this far up Latourelle Creek to where the train shows.

Is it flood stage with back up water from the Columbia?

Could be flood, but think it is just sloughs.

Latourell Creek slough on the right, Young's Creek slough from Shepards Dell on the left. The train is at Latourell one RR mile from Rooster Rock, Bridal Veil is 4.4 miles farther east.
